Boy rushed to hospital after horror crash in Gold Coast, QLD child care carpark

A child has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after they were hit by a car outside a childcare centre on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called to the Creative Garden Early Learning Centre carpark, off Pine Ridge Road, shortly before 10am on Tuesday after reports a boy was hit by a car.

The child was soon after rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition, with police at the scene of the crash.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the child had ended up underneath the vehicle, which had appeared to have “rolled backwards”.

“The child sustained abdominal injuries and was taken under lights and sirens to the Gold Coast University Hospital,” the spokesperson said.
It is understood police have not taken any further action and do not believe anyone was in the car at the time of the collision with the child.

A mother dropping her kids off at the centre told The Gold Coast Bulletin she saw children inside a van “playing around”, before it jerked and reversed into the child.

More to come.
